Six Plates At The Table Softcover Book
Six Plates At The Table consists of over 150 letters, postcards, telegrams, holiday cards, v-mails and vintage photographs between Pvt. H. Bruce Parker and his family in Oklahoma and Kansas. The letters begin with Bruce's arrival in boot camp in St. Sill, OK, continue through his Basic Training at Camp McCoy, WI and finish with his march through Europe as a medic until the War's end. The title of the book came from a reference in a postcard from Bruce's youngest brother, Jim, shortly after Bruce left for boot camp, about their mother setting the table for six out of habit, forgetting that her son, Bruce, had already left for the Service.
Review:
"I am loving the book. It's a real trip back in time with its artwork and just the tone of the letters themselves. I've started using the word "swell"! I think you did an awesome job putting out such a 'pure' piece of work. I just love the innocence of the letters. Imagine being grateful for just a stick of gum! What awesome simplicity. Thanks again and kudos for a job well done."
